President George Weah seeks active Collaboration among ECOWAS Parliamentarians

The President of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. George Manneh Weah has called for an active and unrelenting collaboration among members of the ECOWAS Parliament.

The Liberia President while speaking at the opening ceremony of the second extra Ordinary session of the ECOWAS parliament in Monrovia, the Republic of Liberia, said that there is a dire need for Parliamentarians to join efforts in moving the Region and solving various problems affecting the Region.

President Weah who recalled his days as a member of the ECOWAS Parliament urged parliamentarians to lay legacies that will not be forgotten through hard work and dedication.

He said, “i Still Recall My Days In The ECOWAS Parliament And warm reception I receive when I was inaugurated as member of the ECOWAS parliament, i was receive not only as a colonist, but as a brother and friend, the relationship built remained active and alive until this moment;

“It is gratified to recall the many meetings we had in different member states, and the various sessions we attended together and representing the Parliament as well tackling the challenges we faced as a community;

“It is based upon this confidence and in accordance with the supplementary act relating to the enhancement of powers of the ECOWAS PARLIIAMENT that we have gathered here today to deliberate on the issues that affects our community of people”.

President Weah added that the presence of the Parliament, holding an extra ordinary session out of Abuja is expected outcome of consolidated efforts by the parliament in achieving its vested interest which indeed resembling a community of people and not of states.

He continued, “You are all aware of the tremendous challenges faced by every member states as well as their expectances, hence i urge ECOWAS Institution to tackle these challenges;

“No matter how much we can do by ourselves at the national level, it is not enough, in the state of true collaboration, we in this region must join an action oriented effort to tackle and solve our problems together” Weah said.

He concluded by appreciating the speaker of the Parliament, Moustapha Cisse Lo, for the visibility, respect and credibility he has portrayed to the ECOWAS Parliament and ECOWAS Institutions at large.

Reject List From Countries In breach Of 30 Percent Women Representation – Njai Tells ECOWAS Parliament

A Gambian representative to the ECOWAS Parliament, Honorable Fatoumatta Njai has challenged the Community Parliament to reject list of countries that are short of thirty percent women’s representation to the Parliament. Nigerian senator dies in UK A senator representing Cross River North, Rose Oko, is dead. The 63-year-old senator died on Monday night at a United Kingdom (UK) medical facility where she had been receiving treatment in the last one month.
