"I would rather be played than to deprive the needy"- Ogunmodede tells Parishioners as he clock 45 in Priesthood


The Parish Priest of SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, Very Rev. Fr. (Prof) Francis Ogunmodede has reaffirmed his commitment to the well-being of the needy and less privileged.

Ogunmodede while addressing his Parishioners as he clock forty five years as a Roman Catholic Priest said he has devoted his years of Priesthood to the well-being of others.

He said, " I am a happy man, I am happy because those around me are happy, and nothing supersedes them.

" My drive as  a Priest has been to touch touch lives both spiritually and physically,

" So many times I have been played along the line, some have come to me with faked conditions, just to collect money from me, but I will never stop touching lives".

Continuing he said, " I will never give up the good work of helping the needy because of the few who choose to block the way of those in sincere need"

"My candid appeal to those involved in such act is for them to desist, so that people will continue to remain generous to those in great need and severe situations" Ogunmodede added.

Ogunmodede, a Professor of Philosophy in African Philosophy  was formerly a Lecturer and later on, became the Head of the Department of Philosophy at the Major Seminary of SS. Peter and Paul, Bodija, Ibadan (1980-1995).

 He Rose to position of the Pioneering Rector of  Catholic Major Seminary of All Saints, Ekpoma, in Edo State, Nigeria (1994-2006).

Nigerian senator dies in UK A senator representing Cross River North, Rose Oko, is dead. The 63-year-old senator died on Monday night at a United Kingdom (UK) medical facility where she had been receiving treatment in the last one month. Oko was a member of the House of Representatives representing Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency during the 7th National Assembly. Senator Oko was elected into office as the first female representative from her constituency in June 2011, and is currently in her second-term member of the upper chamber and served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.
