President Buhari asks Senate to confirm 40-year old Bawa as new EFCC Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The President in a letter to the President of the Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, said that he was acting in accordance with Paragraph 2(3) of Part1, CAP E1 of EFCC Act 2004. This disclosure is contained in a statement from the Presidency on Tuesday which was signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina. The statement added that 40-year-old Bawa is a trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance Fee Fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes. He is said to have undergone several specialised trainings in different parts of the world and was one of the pioneer EFCC Cadet Officers in 2005. Bawa holds a B.Sc degree in Economics, and a Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy.

Stop Using Christianity For Jokes – Popular Pastor Warns Comedians

SAD! Nigerian Air Force Loses Personnel To Bandits In Kaduna

  The Nigerian Air Force has lost some of its personnel to armed bandits in Kaduna State. This was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesman of the Air Force, Ibikunle Daramola. He said over 100 armed bandits laid an ambush which led to the unfortunate killing, adding that some military personnel sustained various degrees of injuries. “Troops of the 271 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Detachment today, 13 February 2021, foiled an ambush set up by a group of over 100 armed bandits at Ungwan Laya near Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State,” the statement partly read. “The gallant troops were able to fight their way through the ambush killing dozens of bandits in the process. “Unfortunately, some NAF personnel paid the supreme price during the operation, while a few others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Hotel Set Ablaze As Commercial Sex Worker Kills Her Customer After Unlimited Sex

Commercial activities were halted as a commercial worker killed his customer who refused to pay her after sexual intercourse in Owerri the Imo State capital. As a result, angry residents set the hotel where the incident took place ablaze. Our Correspondent who arrived at the scene saw policemen and firefighters working hard to put out the fire. Third Mainland Bridge Will No Longer Reopen Today – FG

  The Federal Government has announced that the Third Mainland Bridge will now be opened at the end of the month. The earlier scheduled completion date for the rehabilitation works was 15th of February 2021. This disclosure was made by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Olukayode Popoola, in a telephone conversation. Popoola said that the bridge would not be opened on Monday but at the end of February, as it would undergo one more total closure from February 19 to February 21 before completion of the project for the final re-opening by the end of February. FG prohibits #OccupyLekkiTollGate# protest over security report

  The Federal Government has prohibited the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest scheduled for Saturday over intelligence report that it will be hijacked and used to destabilise the country. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced this on Thursday in Abuja at a media briefing to address issues on the proposed protest. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some #EndSars protest proponents have given notice of their plan to return to Lagos-Lekki Toll Gate on Feb. 13.
