ZOW Flower the Foundation (ZFTF) has today launched a youth empowerment outreach “Empowerment for All” as part of its responsibility of enhancing the capacity of Nigerian youth in diverse area of human endeavours as well as the inculcation of the can-do-spirit into youth
The economic empowerment intervention for youth which started with a photography training for it first phase is a platform for effective mentorship power house of ZFTF that equips the Nigerian youth with appropriate tools to succeed in every area and any life endeavor.
The Program coordinator, Mr. Okechukwu Duru speaking in an interview said that the goal of the empowerment outreach is to facilitate poverty reduction and youth unemployment by impacting on meaningful economic youth engagement and sustainable development through skills and knowledge acquisition.
“Our goal is to empower youths with skills and strategies which will enable them to graduate from helpless condition of poverty, continued exploitation and abuse, to acquisition of knowledge, skills and strategies for economic empowerment; leading to informed decision making, self-reliance and secure livelihoods;
“We look forward to impacting one million individuals and their families in two years, by enrolling twenty to Hundred people in the program network, representing a spectrum of ages every month” he said.
Speaking with Victoria, a beneficiary of the training, she said “I am really glad to be a part of this training, I have long had passion for photography and I am happy that I have this opportunity and I thank the organizers for this training”.
The flagoff empowerment outreach captured training on the introduction to DSLR Camera, Basic light and light setup, framing and types of framing, Adobe Photoshop among other area.
ZFTF have also put up modalities which will help monitor the participant as a form of follow up, to ensure that skills gathered from this training are well utilized.
Mrs Julie Okah-Donli, Director General of the Agency, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja, following the rising cases of rape in the country. The DG said both old and present cases should be reported to the Agency. According to the her, reporting the case of rape is the only way the trend can be stopped in the society; the agency will not compromise its work for anything if such case is reported to it. “Rapists are now getting away with their illicit acts along with murder; these cases of domestic servitude are cases that take place behind closed doors. “Our job in NAPTIP is to protect Nigerian men and women, we are not going to compromise our work if they report such case, we will ensure justice is done. “Rape cases are not reported because of stigmatisation of the victims and this makes the cases to rise. Very soon, the name of rapists will be published with their pictures in the media,” she said. She said...
