Ghanaian Government created 100,000 Jobs in 2019




Varied initiatives by the Government of Ghana in 2019, had fostered the empowerment of about 100,000 young men and women, according to the Country Report presented by Honourable Clement Kofi Humado on behalf of the Ghana delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament.

According to the report, the government of Ghana had implemented several skills training and empowerment programmes to contain the growing unemployment situation in the country.

The report stated that the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) which was initiated to bring relief to the many unemployed tertiary graduates in the country have offered skills to 100,000 young men under the Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Civic Ghana, Digitise Ghana, and Enterprise Ghana modules of the scheme.

It said that “10,000 trainees was deployed at the Ghana Revenue Authority and all Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies, while 30,000 in schools at all levels across the country;

“On the other hand, 7,000 personnel was deployed to the health care delivery sector, 8,000 deployed to supporting the private sector, 12,000 engaged in the National Digital Property Addressing System (NDPAS), 8,300 engaged in the flagship initiative, planting for Food and Jobs and 500 deployed in the Judicial Services” he stated.

Additional, the report stated that 140 of the engaged youths trained as drone pilots for GALAMSTOP under the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation was deployed to mining areas.

Similarly, 100 trainees of the ORACLE Training programme area was deployed to support the Public financial Management Reform Project (PFMRP) under the Ministry of Finance with 130 trainees deployed to provide support for the Ghana Metrological Agency.

“Under the Ministry of Trade, 650 trainees was deployed directly to One District One factory programme (1D1F) of the Ministry and 12,800 trainees deployed into the local government, information services, public media houses and community work” it added.

Furthermore, the report revealed that the government of Ghana has also developed a virtual training portal under the NABCO Talent Academy with the aim of providing learning and Training opportunities to enable trainees acquire the needed exposure to seek permanent employment or venture into entrepreneurship.

“Within the programmed implementation period of 36 months, Government expects the scheme to deliver a skilled and competent workforce for national development” it concluded.

IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW SIM REGISTRATION RULES
